Networking FOR GOOD!

Last month, PS Charities rubbed shoulders with some of DC’s finest professionals at our first Networking For Good event, held at the legendary DC Hard Rock Café. With the help of IMPACT Marketing and their event series, Networking for Good, we raised money from entry ticket sales, in which 100% of the registration fees went to our Military Appreciation Fund.  The spotlight focused on our support for the military, and even more so on our Build a House Project.

The Build a House Project started in December 2011 to raise money to build a house for a wounded Marine and his family. In June, together with our charity partner, The Brothers in Arms Foundation, we purchased a lot in San Antonio, TX. Now that the land is secured, Operation Finally Home and Tilson Homes will break ground this month. The home will be ready in early 2013.

Mingling through the crowd, PSC staff Jackie Albright and Michael Chandler, with two board members, Michael E. Dean and Mark Woodward, were happy to talk about our dual mission; provide financial assistance to meet unmet needs of military families and patients fighting cancer. Although the event was focused toward our military fund, we were excited to receive just as much support for the announcement of our 4th Annual Caribbean Casino Night and Auction in October. Toward the end of the event, Executive Director, Michael Chandler, thanked all who came out to support PS Charities. Like donors in 36 other states, everyone is helping to build this house.

In the end, the first PS Charities’ Networking For Good event proved successful in promoting our message to the DC community. We look forward to broadening our amazing support staff; volunteers, contributors, sponsors, and everyone else who shares the same passion to make our community a better place.
